The official First Herring on Aruba was presented to local fisherman Arthur Giel

The first new herrings of the 2020 season were presented to Arthur ‘Tui’ Giel, local fisherman, and Fabian Latinga, director of operations of Aruba Wine and Dine Friday June 19th. Both gentlemen pronounced the herring `delicious, fat and tasty'. The `haring happen', a traditional happening, took place at ‘home of the Dutch, Café the Plaza’. The new herring, containing a fat percentage between 21 and 23 percent, is of outstanding quality. A bit later this month the herring that is brought in, will be at its peak at 26 percent.

Of course, a herring should be eaten rare, without chopped onions or pickles (an Amsterdam variety). The taste should come through loud and clear while the fish glides through your troat, delightful and full of flavor. From now on the 2020 catch of herring is warmly recommended to all herring lovers.
