Moomba Beach Hosts the 2026 Unox Nieuwjaarsduik New Year’s Plunge

Moomba Beach is getting ready to host the 2026 Unox Nieuwjaarsduik on Thursday, January 1st. The annual New Year’s plunge has become a yearly tradition that many look forward to in Aruba, attracting both locals and visitors who want to begin the year with a refreshing and traditional dive into the Caribbean Sea.

Each year, the Nieuwjaarsduik stands out as a moment of togetherness, bringing people of all ages to the beach for a shared experience that blends Dutch heritage with Aruba’s relaxed island atmosphere. The event will begin at exactly 12 noon, when participants line up along the beach before making the unified rush into the Caribbean. Guests are encouraged to arrive early, as free Unox hats will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis. These hats have become a recognizable element of the event, making them a simple and appreciated keepsake for many who take part.

After the plunge, the celebration continues at Moomba Beach with free Dutch pea soup (erwtensoep). This traditional dish has been part of the event for years and provides a warm and comforting moment after the plunge. In addition, guests can take advantage of bucket deals on Chill and Balashi, offering an easy way to enjoy the afternoon with friends and fellow participants.

The event will feature an extended lineup of live music from PTR, Bradley Fonseca, and Bonjorno, offering a full afternoon of entertainment. The energy will rise even higher as their performances carry the celebration forward, creating an enjoyable setting for both those who joined the dive and those who come simply to enjoy the beach, music, and tradition. Families, groups of friends, and travelers often stay long after the plunge to take in the atmosphere, making the event not just a quick dip but a full New Year’s Day gathering.

Moomba Beach’s location between the Marriott’s Surf Club and the Holiday Inn makes it easy for attendees to access the event from surrounding resorts and nearby areas. Known for its welcoming and lively environment, Moomba Beach continues to be one of Aruba’s favorite gathering spots, hosting a variety of community-focused events throughout the year. The Unox Nieuwjaarsduik remains one of the most recognizable traditions on the island, marking the start of the year in a simple yet memorable way.

As the event grows each year, it represents the blend of traditions that make Aruba unique. The Nieuwjaarsduik reflects both the island’s connection to Dutch customs and its signature laid-back beach setting, making it a natural fit for locals and visitors who want to celebrate the New Year in a meaningful and enjoyable way.
