  3. Aruba Holiday Lights: A Wak Luz Road Trip with Kukoo Kunuku
Thousands of colorful lights illuminate the festive castle, Christmas trees, and hillside at Cas di Luz in Seroe Preto, San Nicolas, Aruba, a beautiful island holiday tradition.

Aruba is getting ready to sparkle, and even the traffic circles are preparing to show off! Soon, palm trees will be dressed to impress, gardens will glow, and entire neighborhoods will compete for the brightest spot on the island. The holiday season is just around the corner, bringing a joyful celebration of light to our little Caribbean paradise.

There's a delightful Papiamento expression for going out to admire it all: wak luz. And Kukoo Kunuku has a colorful invitation to join the fun!

Wak Luz! Your Holiday Road Trip Awaits

If you're looking for something different to do in Aruba this December, wait until you see how the island sparkles after sunset!

Spreading laughter and good times for 30 years, Kukoo Kunuku, home of Aruba's first party bus, is celebrating its anniversary with exciting new island experiences. Its latest invitation? A sparkling holiday road trip aboard the Holiday Lights Express!Festive illustration of Kukoo Kunuku's colorful Holiday Lights Express bus beside a Christmas-lit traffic circle in Aruba.

Step aboard a lively, colorful Kukoo bus for a journey through beautifully decorated neighborhoods, with festive music, cheerful hosts, and plenty of Kukoo spirit. The evening includes a visit to Cas di Luz, one of the most spectacular places to see holiday lights in Aruba.

Cas di Luz: From Cardboard Houses to Castles of Light

Tucked into the hillside of Seroe Preto in San Nicolas, Aruba, Cas di Luz is a dazzling holiday attraction with the humblest of beginnings: two little cardboard houses decorated with oversized light bulbs.

Those humble beginnings blossomed into illuminated castles, glowing staircases, and towering Christmas trees, with thousands of lights transforming the hillside into a wonderland beneath the night sky.Illuminated castle, Christmas tree, and colorful holiday lights at Cas di Luz in San Nicolas, Aruba.

Magic like this takes a village. Volunteers and generous supporters have donated their time and resources, including 50 solar panels to help power the display, creating a beautiful gift from one community to the entire island.

The Holidays, Aruba Style

Christmas in Aruba has its own irresistible rhythm. Gaitas bring festive Caribbean and Venezuelan melodies, while ayacas wrapped in banana leaves, pan de jamón, and Dutch oliebollen celebrate the island's delicious mix of cultures.

Snowflakes may be missing from our Caribbean Christmas, but palm trees sparkle beneath the warm night sky, dressed for the occasion in their own strings of twinkling lights.

Gather your favorite people and discover Aruba after dark, where a colorful holiday road trip aboard Kukoo Kunuku's Holiday Lights Express turns wak luz into a celebration of its own.

The brightest part of the holidays isn't always the lights. Sometimes it's the people who make them shine.
